BALAYAGE

Balayage (BAA-LEE-AH-J or BAA-LAY-AH-J) means ‘to sweep’ in French. The original balayage technique is a form of open-air lightening of the hair, usually using a clay-based lightener to lift the colour and ensure a subtle blend between darker and lighter pieces of hair. 

 

Over the recent years, balayage has evolved into various techniques and final looks – like foilyage, teasylage and ombre. 

 

What these techniques all have in common is that they help achieve multi-tonal, dimensional colour that’s well blended, with a transition from dark to light that’s fairly long and smooth, resulting in a low maintenance, natural look. 

 

Depending on which technique is used, how dark your hair is and how light your goal look is, it can sometimes take a couple of visits to the salon to reach the desired look. As with everything I do, the health of your hair is my top priority.  The slower we lift your colour, the safer it is for your hair. And, after all, healthier hair is more beautiful hair!
